![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() We see the Skeksis getting more and more frustrated because they don't have any Gelfling left to drain for essence, meaning they either left, or that they already captured them all. I mean it could very well be that the things we are told directly aren't true, but there is definitely some truth to it. To keep safe, stay away from these veins at all costs.Īlso, beware whatever monstrous beasts dwell down there. They would not want to come down there due to the Darkening.Īnd for the Darkening? I strongly believe it spreads trough the veins of lesser crystals that reach troughout Thra. It could house the whole gelfling population, supply them with native plants as food and hide them from the Skeksis. This hypothetical, indirectly proven Region of Thra is a network of caves connected via the breath of Thra. Encountering a swarm means the defeat of the skimmer)Īnd the last thing (and also the one with the highest potential capacity and highest environmental danger): The Dephts of Grot. Used to take down any intelligence collecting bats. A large swarm of bats can easily bring down a crystal skimmer, so good anti-air defense capabilities are required (Bows, slingshots and lots of ammunition. Their biggest threat would not be SkekSa, but the bats. Prior to that, they are an easy target.Ĭrystal skimmers work the same as Sifa ships, but only with groups of up to 15. Now, Sifa ships are especially great for hiding survivors. If done correctly, and supplied with enough food, up to 100 Gelfling could have survived there. The circle of the suns however is almost impossible to reach for garthim, with only the crystal bats (or derivates bred for killing) being able to attack. Since the swamp is mostly flat, and swamp based positions therefore are more likely to be overrun by garthim, groups there may be smaller. So, positions that can be easily defended, like small patches or islands in the swamp, the circle of the suns and of course, sifan ships could house up to 100 gelfling survivors. I mostly think though that these survivors only survived due to the land being too hard for the garthim to navigate. The voice cast and puppeteers are phenomenal, the story is beautifully told, and the ambition of the creators should ultimately pay off with a new generation of people captivated by the world the "The Dark Crystal. There is a very high probability that Gelfling survived in said regions. The finale makes it clear that a second season would be needed to truly complete the pre-movie saga, but that's a concern for another time. The 10-episode season is well-paced, and tells a rich prequel leading to the events of the original movie. If you're a Jim Henson devotee and love the general fantasy genre, then "Age of Resistance" offers up more than enough compelling storytelling to keep you watching. The bottom line: 'The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance' is absolutely worth the watch for fantasy fans This can make for an occasional squeamish viewing experience that might not sit well with the audience, though perhaps a little warning is all you need. The bird-like Skeksis are just as formidable and nightmare-inducing as they were in the original movie, only now we have high-definition close-ups of puss oozing from their beaks or the visceral squish of their rotting flesh. ![]()
